My Blog Looks Different

Yep, it’s been a long time coming, but I’ve finally gotten around to redesigning this thing. I was getting really tired of all the tiny text and boxes on the old design and wanted something a little brighter and easier to read. I also wanted something simultaneously dentist-office ugly and early-nineties neon fugly, apparently. Hopefully this is a move in all those directions at once. What do you all think? Seriously, any and all suggestions are really helpful, as this is by no means a final draft and I want to make this as nice as possible for all of us. HOLLABACK!!!!!!

Also, check out this rad thread on the Urban Honking msg boards. It involves a certain really influential music website, an insta-big band, the (non)existence of absolute truth in the universe, and some French philosopher guy. Yeah, some very interesting conversation going on in there these days.

Smoke em if ya got em: ;’)-~

OK, Blogger is all fixed now, so back to our regularly scheduled self-indulgence. You’ll notice there are now little envelopes at the bottom of the posts now. These let you email any post to whoever you want. Pretty slick, eh?

There are a couple delayed posts below too, including one about David Byrne and Patti Smith.

Check it out dudes, my site is totally red now! I’ve also introduced a slightly menacing “realness” thread here, in an attempt to establish my indelible connection to this reality. Or maybe I was just bored. Non-IE users will also notice a sexy blinking effect when mousing over links (does this work in Safari? Anyone?). Meanwhile, my Blogger account is not handling Metempsychosis’ recent move to a new server well, so I’m typing this in by hand, and blogging will be suspended for a little while. Any feedback on the new design is much appreciated.

Aplogies for the crappy weird text that was showing up here last week. There was a problem with a script I use in the HTML and it was… God, who really gives a crap?

In better news, my first article of decent length is appearing in todays issue of the Willamette Week in Portland, OR. Let’s see, maybe it’s on their website too… ah yes, here you go.

Well, that was intense. Finals, birthday, graduation, family, evil debilitating disease and -poof- here I am. The weather is wonderful and I need a job, quicklike. Thusly, I am in the process of overhauling this site to make it a little slicker and professional looking. The first fruits of this effort are the new resume and portfolio pages, and a fresh batch of photos. All this in the hope that that a potential employer, upon stumbling into my little web den, may find me fit to hire. If you are that employer, and you’re reading this, I have four words for you: please job now please. I won’t let you down. I promise. Please. OK, that was more than four, but who’s counting anyway.

In other, less employable news, I have completed a few audio projects, and one audiovisual (gasp!) that will soon be available here. I have simply been way too busy to get around to these webmasterly duties, but I’ve got a little time now, so get ready world!

Woah, I am a big wierdo. I just compulsively overhauled the layout of this website. It may not look like I did much, but now everything is all set up so that it will be really easy to update in the future. I’d say more, but that would just be geeky. Right. Like the whole website isn’t geeky. Anyway, I think it was needed, everything looked to light and grey. I especially like the image above, which was actually my inspiration for all the other tweaks. It’s a scan of a mixtape I made today, in which I revealed that Weezer and Micheal Jackson are the ying and the yang of my existence. Who knew?

Alright, time to turn in that assignment that was due about four hours ago. Uggg.

I updated the links. The northwest gets a much better showing, and it should really, so that’s good. In other news, my friend Jesse, who is the raddest ever, stole a Trinitron 17inch monitor from the IT department of my school, just so he could give it to me. I am so excited. The huge expanse (17 inches, it would seem) that I am now typing accross is simply… awe-inspiring.

Alright! Now the “Cartoons” button up top is working! I’ve put up my first couple cartoons there. These are actually my first attempt at doodling into a contained comic-style form. I am pleased with the results and I plan to keep at it. I also have plans to put out a little zine thing collecting all my doodles from my soon-to-be-ended college years. News as it develops.

I’m doing a little updating of this precious website. I want to work my doodles into the mix even more, hence the “cartoons” button at the top. Soon this button will be bring you, the viewer, even deeper into my demented cutesy world. Stay tuned!

Um. Wow. When I entered this computer lab today it was light outside. Now it is dark. How lame is that? Not too lame actually, because I was having fun getting my graphic art mojo workin’. The biggest fruit of my labor is the new links page, which is now hosted by one of my doodle creatures. There is another one hiding around this page somewhere. Also, changed the picture on this page to the nice tree you see above. I found this picture in the scanner when I got here and thought it was damn cool. Thank you, anonymous person. Now, time to lay my eyes on something that isn’t a monitor…
