YES!

I love everything about this, from the crazy Star Wars bar electro soundtrack (seriously, I would listen to that without the video), the amazing slo-mo slides, the parts where you think youtube is freezing but it’s actually just this kid freezing because this video is TOTALLY FUCKING RAD!, the crazed smile on his face, the flamboyant pirouettes and shimmies, and the smoke at the end.

YES!!!!

It’s My Window

umbrella

Chas Bowie’s Timbaland podcast special is totally making my morning. Hear it here, c/o The Mercury. Chas and I agree: “The Rain” is the best Missy/Timbo collabo ever. Seriously, mind-exploding future-pop on an other level. That big syruppy bass and those little pin prick sounds and the simultaneously laid-back / snap-tight beats = totally sublime music. My ringtone jam for going on a year, and it’s not stopping now.

PS: Have you had your Daily Awesome yet?

And the award for most adorable under-18 band of the day goes to:

D & K

http://www.myspace.com/dannyandkelly

My jams are “Wonderful You” and the song about the happy/sad tree.

Recently in most adorable band of day (and runner up for best band name ever*):

Natalie Portman's Shaved Head

http://www.myspace.com/natalieportmansshavedhead

Word on the street is Marius‘ bro plays in this band. Brian Barr got it right here (second review down). Seriously, I WISH I was even half as cool as these kids when I was in high school. I mean, all I could muster up was this nerdy-ass computer music. If myspace had existed back in the (OG) Lollapalooza era, ain’t no cute girls woulda commented on that shit! Can I get an amen? AMEN.

So yes, adorable high school bands, I salute you.

* Just noticed they played with someone/thing called Sexually Active Corpse. That’s a contender.

Cosmic Wow

disco space

This morning’s office ambience comes courtesy of Roy Dank’s fantastic Apocalypse Wow radio show and podcast over at East Village Radio (which seems like a really great operation in itself). I’ve emailed with Roy a little bit, and knew he was into that nebulous leftfield space disco terrain (as manifested in his regular XLR8R columns). But I had no idea his take on the un-genre was as smooth and crafted as this. Always refreshing when a DJ drops his own unique sound universe, and it comes out all fully-formed and neon-bouncy like this one. Good stuff.

Similarly singular local DJs treading simlarly cosmic dance landscapes: Barrett Ryker, Paul Dickow + David Chandler (plus about 500 other sound universes).

Raising the Dead / French Techno / Skull Juice

SKULL BLASTER

So yeah, maybe if I just get on with it and write this blog like I write the million emails I send a day maybe I’ll actually post something here, right?

Right now I’m listening to a mix off this rad UK music blog called Skull Juice. Lots of the banging French electro that’s ruling shit right now, some noisey guitar music, and this crazy disco-house “Iron Man” remix (WTF?).

They also get major kudos for giving me this amazing SebastiAn remix that I lost and desperately wanted to hear today:

Nadiya - Tous Ces Mots (SebastiAn Remix)

Seriously, that sound should be played at football games because it can only get you PUMPED. OK, there’s diva vocals in there, so maybe the real men wouldn’t be cool with it, but damn, us senstive males can have our fun, right?

And speaking of sensitive males, if any of you are living in LA you really should go to this on Friday.

Woah, my blog moved!
